Insert the CD into your CD drive (printed side up). 2. Simply drag the AcuBase Pro folder from the CD onto your hard drive or desktop. Microsoft Windows To install and run AcuBase on a Windows-based machine that meets the above minimum requirements, do the following:
1. Insert the CD into your CD drive (printed side up).
2. From the Start button, go to Run.
3. From within Run, type “x:\setup.exe”, where x: equals the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.
4. Once the install completes, you will be given the option of starting AcuBase Pro
5. AcuBase Pro creates an “AcuBase Pro” folder, which it places under the “Programs” group under the “Start” button. From within this folder, select the “AcuBase Pro” icon. The program files default to reside in the “C:\Program Files\Trigram Software\AcuBase Pro” directory.
Important note for Vista users: Because of Vista’ security features, we recommend Vista users install AcuBase to their desktop rather than the C:\Program Files\Trigram Software directory.
Network Installations (Mac or PC, 10 or Fewer Users)
You will run AcuBase Pro from one main computer (your host computer or “server”), and all other computers will access the program over the network through FileMaker Pro (See http://www.filemaker.com for pricing and other FileMaker-related information). Assuming you purchased a user license for 10 users, you can have 5 of those users simultaneously logged in to AcuBase Pro, installing the program in the following manner:
1. Install a separate, licensed copy of FileMaker Pro 8.5 or above on each computer that will access the program.
2. Once you have installed FileMaker Pro, open FileMaker and turn on the Network Sharing option on each machine. Mac users, go to the FileMaker Pro menu, Sharing…, and turn Network Sharing to “On”.
3. So the next step is to install AcuBase Pro on whichever computer (Mac or PC) you plan to run it from. To do so, follow the regular installation instructions on the previous page (“Running the Installation”).
4. After AcuBase has been installed, make sure the program is closed. To open AcuBase Pro for use over the network, you must first open FileMaker Pro on your “server” machine, go to File / Open, find the AcuBase Pro folder you just installed, and open the AcuBase Pro file.
5. Once AcuBase Pro is open in FileMaker on your host computer, you may open it from up to four other machines concurrently over your network. To do so, on another networked computer, open FileMaker Pro, and go to File, Open Remote…. The following window will show up:

If you have rights to access the Host computer over your network, you will see its network address show up in the left-hand “Host(s)” pane. When you do, if AcuBase is open on the Host computer, you will see it show up on the right-hand “Available Files” pane. Click on AcuBase Pro under “Available Files” and click the “Open” button to open it.
Repeat this process for every computer on your network that wishes to access AcuBase Pro (up to 5 at a time).
An important note about networking: Once AcuBase Pro has been installed on the network, all settings in the Preferences part of the program may only be changed from the Host/Server computer. So if you choose to change the default invoice for the program, for instance, from Superbill to CMS 1500 form, that change will not “stick” unless it was made on the Host machine.
Network Installations (Mac or PC, Up To 250 Users)
You will run AcuBase Pro from one main computer (your host computer or “server”), and all other computers will access the program over the network through FileMaker Pro (See http://www.filemaker.com for pricing and other FileMaker-related information). Assuming you purchased a user license for 250 users, install the program in the following manner:
1. Install a separate, licensed copy of FileMaker Pro 8.5 or above on each computer that will be accessing AcuBase Pro.
2. Install FileMaker Server 8 or FileMaker Server 8 Advanced to your main Host (“server”) computer. Follow the installation instructions in the FileMaker Server documentation to do so.
3. You will run AcuBase Pro from your host computer, and all other computers will access the program over the network. Browse the AcuBase Pro installation CD and open the Network folder/directory. Copy the AcuBase Pro folder and paste that folder to your server’s desktop or wherever you wish to keep it.
4. Once on your server, make sure that the files are not all “Read Only” by going to the Properties screen on a PC (right-click the AcuBase Pro folder, and go to Properties on the pop-up window), or the Get Info screen on a Mac (click on the AcuBase Pro folder and go to the File menu, Get Info), and making sure “Read Only” is not checked.
5. Open FileMaker Pro Server, and then open the AcuBase Pro file.
6. Once AcuBase Pro is open in FileMaker on your host computer, you may open it from up to 249 other machines concurrently over your network. To do so, on each networked computer, install and open FileMaker Pro, and go to File, Open Remote….

Repeat this process for every computer on your network that wishes to access AcuBase Pro.
