How to Move from Single-User to Network Version of AcuBase Pro

This is a detailed explanation of how to move from the single-user to network version of AcuBase Pro for users who have already purchased a network license and have installed FileMaker Pro on each desktop.  The text below was written by Joelle at Trigram Support for a Mac user.  PC users can do the same, or call us with further questions…

Here it goes:

Make sure FileMaker is installed on all computers involved including server.  Acubase should reside on server and this is where you will make the following modifications, all on your server machine:

On your desktop, create a New Folder and call it AcuBasePro Network.
Inside that folder, create 2 folders: - Update
                                                  - Backup
now, with the program closed, go to your AcuBase Pro folder (the current single user version--PC users, this is at C:\program files\trigram software\acubase pro+) and copy all 3 USR files: AcuBasePro.USR, AcuBaseCalendar.USR, and Logfile.USR to the Update folder you just created on your desktop under AcuBase Pro Network.

Next go to your AcuBase Pro folder again (PC users, this is at C:\program files\trigram software\acubase pro+) and open the Extension folder.  You will see in there 2 Troi_Files, Copy these files and Paste them in the Filemaker Extension folder (go to HD, Applications, fileMaker, FileMaker Extensions on a Mac, or C:\program files\filemaker\extensions on a PC)

Now go to our website and download the update for the networking version:
http://www.trigram.com/downloads_updates/item/acubase-pro-updates/
Once downloaded, drag all three *.fp7 files (AcuBasePro, AcuBaseCalendar, and LogFile) to the AcuBasePro Network folder you created on your desktop and you should now see in that folder: AcuBasePro.fp7, AcuBaseCalendar.fp7, LogFile.fp7, as well as the Update folder and the Backup folder.

Open up Filemaker and Open AcuBasePro.fp7 through FileMaker.  When it opens it will ask if you wish to update, say yes to that and it will run its course.

Once done, go to the top menu and click on" FileMaker Pro", go to Sharing, and then Filemaker Network, and turn it ON, click OK and you’re done.

When all is finished, close the program.  backup your older, single-user Acubase Pro on external medium (CD or flash or External drive) and get rid of that folder.

Other stations will access AcuBase through FileMaker by going to Open Remote, which requires that the program is already open on the server machine.
