A Diatribe on Creating a Free Virtual Medical Billing & Practice Management Community

Good question--some might say it’s the Perennial Question:  "What are we doing here?"  There are a lot of ways of approaching that question, and perhaps the best way is to chunk it down and ask "What are we doing here...on this website?"  As many of you die-hard Trigram/AcuBase fans know, adding a blog and a forum are things we’ve wanted to do for a long, long time.  Not just because blogs and forums are groovy in their own right, but because all of us users (and geeks here at Trigram) are medical practitioners or work in a medical setting.  We have to deal with medical billing and practice management issues day-in and day-out, and we usually have to make decisions about practice management on our own, without much outside counsel or input. 

As we’ve spoken to our users over the years, it’s become quite obvious to us that there are simply not a lot of resources available to the community of medical practitioners looking for advice on medical practice management issues.  Yes, there are plenty of paid resources available--people who will give you advice if you pay them.  But where are all the people in the trenches?   The doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists ... and their staff?  Isn’t there a community somewhere where we can all find some support amongst one another?

While this is obviously a blog on a medical billing software website, our intent in adding a blog and forum is to create a virtual community of practitioners and their staff--a place to exchange ideas, ask questions, and get answers.  To knit together all of the above-mentioned "trenches" to create a place where we can all benefit from one another’s experience.  For free.

So let us know what you want us to write about here.  If you find an article or blog post or somesuch that you have found useful (or better yet, if you’ve written one), let us know and we’ll post it.  If you have questions (or answers), check out the medical billing and practice management section of our forum, and contribute!  Because, after all, whether you are a practitioner or staff, whether you use AcuBase or some other program for medical billing and practice management, we’re all in this together.
