Dealing with Vista Issues and AcuBase

We’ve noticed that, on some Vista machines, Backups do not retain data, and/or moving files for Updates will not work (files will not copy/paste to the Update folder).  Here are some suggestions…

Unless AcuBase is set to run as an administrator, Vista places all data files into a system user’s folder with the following path (substitute [user login name] with your windows user name):
C:\Users\[User Login Name]\AppData\Local\VitualStore\Program Files\Trigram Software\AcuBase Pro+

NOTE: The AppData folder is a hidden folder. If you don’t see it, go into Organize>Folder and Search Options for the [User Login Name] folder, and under the View tab, check ‘show hidden files and folders’. Click Ok. Now open AppData\Local\VitualStore\Program Files\Trigram Software\AcuBase Pro+

In order for the program to correctly store data files and backups, you will need to move the program to your desktop.  Follow these steps after closing the program:

1) With AcuBase CLOSED, open the AcuBase Pro application folder at C:\program files\trigram software\acubase pro+.  Select All files and folder, and go to Edit, Copy.

2) Create a new AcuBase Pro folder on your desktop.

3) Open the AcuBase Pro folder on your desktop, right click in it and select Paste.

4) Open the user’s path shown above (C:\Users\[User Login Name]\AppData\Local\VitualStore\Program Files\Trigram Software\AcuBase Pro+)

5) Select and copy all files and folders.

6) Open the AcuBase Pro folder on your desktop, right click in it and select Paste, replacing existing files if prompted

7) If you have an AcuBase Pro icon on your desktop from which you usually launch the program, delete it.

8) Open the AcuBase Pro folder on your desktop, right click on the AcuBase Pro+ program icon, and click on Send to Desktop (shortcut) to create a new shortcut to the new program location.

9) Test that the program opens properly by double-clicking on the program icon on your desktop.

10) Assuming it opens properly, close it again,  go to C:\program files\trigram software, and delete the AcuBase Pro+ folder.
