Our MISSION
Our mission at Trigram Software is to combine the art of modern integrative medicine with the logic and organization of computer technology. The adaptability of medicine over the centuries has allowed it to bridge the continents and keep up with ever-changing times. In the same flexible spirit, our products work seamlessly on any PC or Macintosh, with today’s most popular operating systems.
Our Name
The principal powers of nature are all combinations of Yin and Yang. There are eight such powers, so their Yin-Yang balance is expressed in eight three-line combinations called "Trigrams." Just as a computer needs only the two symbols, 0 and 1, to express any data fed into it, so the ancient Chinese found that they only needed the Yin and the Yang lines to express their eight images.
The three solid (yang) lines seen in our logo symbolize creative action. This trigram also represents the dragon in traditional Chinese mythology, which is the noble power of light and air, imagination and will. He controls the clouds and waters, and is, if not benign, certainly not malevolent like the European dragon. As the Creative Principle, the dragon is the father of all things.
Our History
Trigram Software was established in 1994 by a group of newly-minted medical practitioners who were excited to start their practices. After a great amount of research and trial-and-error, they found that they could create their own user-friendly medical practice management system for a fraction of the cost of buying someone else’s pre-packed program. That first program they created was called "AcuBase", and pretty soon, friends and fellow practitioners wanted to use it, too. AcuBase Standard was the first of these products to be introduced publicly, back in 1996. Now, more than 10 years and 11 versions later, we’re excited to be the medical practice management software of choice for thousands of practitioners of all stripes, from Acupuncturists to MDs; from single-practitioner offices to multi-specialty operations.
